MERE, WILTSHIRE, Friday 25th September 2020

In the light of a recent publication by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) “Coronavirus (COVID-19) manufacture and supply of hand sanitisers” it is necessary for any company looking to supply “active chlorine released from hypochlorous acid” or “active chlorine generated from sodium chloride by electrolysis” to hold a permit via an Article 55 Derogation to place on the market under product type 1 (PT1: Human hygiene). This means that while Electrox waits for its permit we are not able to supply our product as a sanitising hand rub or wash.

We urge any customers using the product in this way to please cease from this application until we announce our approved application for the permit.

In spite of this, the product is still approved for uses under product types 2, 3, 4 and 5. This enables use for disinfection in the following areas:

PT 2: Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals

PT3: Veterinary Hygiene

PT4: Food and feed area

PT5: Drinking water.

Electrox is confident that the permit will be issued, and we will be able to sell under PT1 in the near future. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this news.  Please get in touch if you have any queries about this information.
